Proper maintenance of our vehicles involves a little bit of science and careful consideration to achieve the best results. Shine Plus offers some valuable tips on car detailing best practices here on our blog.
In part 1, we discussed how washing your vehicle in the shade has some very important benefits. In part 2, we will discuss the importance of using high-quality car detailing products.
It is important not to use dish soap when washing your vehicle. Dish soap contains strong detergents that will remove wax or other protective coatings on the vehicle and will dry out vehicle components over time. Instead, use a pH-neutral car soap which has greater lubrication and adds shine.
When cleaning your wheels and tires, there are chemicals on the market that use a very high or low pH to help clean the wheel. Shine Plus recommends avoiding these products unless you are trained to use them. Instead, choose a high-quality all-purpose cleaner and agitate with a detailing brush to create foam and suds.
When cleaning the glass, use a glass cleaner that does not contain ammonia as this can damage tint. Equally as important as choosing a glass cleaner made specifically for cars, make sure to use a high-quality microfiber towel to wipe the glass dry to get the best streak-free cleaning. Waffle weave towels are particularly effective at removing debris and leaving the glass spotless.
Always choose high-quality products designed specifically for use on cars to ensure that you will get the best possible results and avoid damage to your valuable vehicle.
